Damian: I actually got started at one of my good friends birthday parties when I was 10. We got a group of us to play twice a month after that and just got hooked.
Shocktech: Damien, Tell us something we don't already know about you?
Damian: I am an extremely competitive beer pong player. And that my name is spelled DamiAn and you guys have done it wrong all season. LOL
Shocktech: Favorite Position to Play?
Damian: Pitcher ;)
Shocktech: Explain Boxing...
Damian: I originally learned boxing from my good friend and teammate Towlie. It might get a little graphic but the general idea is this... You pull your, um. "Berries" over your waistband and then put up the dukes and let gravity do it's job.
Shocktech: Who gets a little extra love?
Damian: Any female over 165 lbs. , Skel and Ross Plum.
Shocktech: How do you see the Midwest tournament scene developing?
Damian: I think it is really taking a turn towards the positive. There aren't many well respected teams or even players from the Midwest. With Aftershock becoming more centralized and local really helps. Avalanche is pretty much all MW and Voltage is up and coming things are looking towards respect being thrown this way from both coasts. Also I'd have to say the dominate performance by the 93 bulls at MAO taking down 3 of the top 5 teams in D2 was a real shock.
Shocktech: Tell us something about Jason "Towlie" Calef thats really gonna upset him. Where do I start?
Damian: The fact that the first 5 man tournament I cyclopsed him. He loves sloppy seconds and has trouble "rising" to the occasion if you know what I mean.
Shocktech: Your part of the "new" Aftershock, How do you feel about being part of the squad put together to bring back some trophy's?
Damian: I love the fact that we joined during a rebuilding year. I would prefer to be the underdog in anything that I'm doing. I think with the "OLD GUYS" left on the team mixed with the new kids we have the possibilty to acheive anything. Everyone just has to put in the work and have the ambition to do it.
Shocktech: X-Ball or 7-Man? Why?
Damian: I like both formats. I prefer to play X-ball because it is more of a sport to me. I have been very invovled in sports my entire life and this relates more to me. I also feel that the better team on that day always wins. No flukes or one bogus call like in a 7 man tournament can screw you out of a W. I like to feel that I bring a old school 7 man feel to the new age of X ball, by being able to hide and snipe on a X-ball field.
Shocktech: What's going through your head when you jump into to some old school Badlandz Woodsball?
Damian: To see how many people I can one ball with an autococker. I love playing the woods. As all of us Original Iowa boys will tell you it's where we started and grew up playing. I think that you can tell the difference on an X-ball field between the players who originally relied on their instinct in the woods and who has been taught to run and gun and can't think for themselves.
Shocktech: Who is your favorite player, on any team to watch and why?
Damian: I really enjoy watching Greg Pauley play. He looks like the evil clown from Spawn running around trying to blow peoples heads off, and no matter what is going happening on the field I know the only thing running thru his head is World Cup so he can eat Chik-fil-a again.
Shocktech: Who has been your biggest influence in paintball?
Damian: My Mom. Without her I never would be where I am today. She has supported me 100% of the way, knowing that I can accomplish whatever I really want in life.
Shocktech: Anyone you would like to thank?
Damian: My Mom, Ren doG, J-Salm for quite possibly being the biggest asshole I know besides myself, Towlie has been duo since I can remember. Randall from Voltage, even though things are rough right now between us, he's done a lot for me and I will always love those d-bags. Ponytail from Snakers honestly helped get me to where me and Towlie are right now. And everyone out there that hates me. I love you guys.
